How to fold a T-Shirt in 2 seconds.

If you ask people what the most boring part of their clothes washing and ironing routine is, you’ll probably hear the word¬†“folding” crop up quite a few times. After all, if you want to leave the house in the morning wearing clothes that aren’t creased all over then you need to make sure that your clothes are folded to perfection.

The problem with this? It takes time. When you iron clothing, if you’re like me, you tend to fold your clothes straight after they’ve been ironed which makes the simple task of ironing, folding and putting away your clothing into an activity which can take hours to complete – especially if you have a large family.

But, what if there was a way of simplifying the process and ensuring that folding a T-Shirt took you no longer than 2 seconds?

well, it would definitely be quicker and it would give you some free time to either complete other chores or have a sit in the garden and enjoy the summer ‘sun’.

Well, luckily there a way and in this quick, handy, 10 step guide I’m going to show you how to quickly and effortlessly fold a T-Shirt in 2 seconds!

Lay your T-Shirt flat on a surface (such as a clean table) and spread the T-Shirt (or other short sleeved shirt) out with the front of the T-Shirt visible. Then, stand so that the neck of the T-Shirt is to your right and the bottom of the T-Shirt is to your left.

Draw an imaginary line that runs from between the neck and sleeve and runs all the way down until it hits the bottom of the T-Shirt.

On your imaginary line, find a point which divides the T-Shirt into two equal sections. One on your right that includes the neck and the sleeve and one on the left which includes the bottom of the T-Shirt.

Now, using your left hand, reach over to this point and pinch the fabric between your finger and thumb tightly, ensuring that you’ve pinched both the front and the back of the T-Shirt.

Once you’ve got your left hand pinching the T-Shirt, you then need to use your right hand to pinch at the end of the line at the shoulder. Make sure you keep your left hand in place as you do this. As the shoulder of your T-Shirt is on the right, your arms shouldn’t be crossed when you do this.

Remember, your imaginary line runs between the sleeve and the neck. Again, make sure that you pinch both the front and the back of the fabric.

Move your right hand over your left hand to the bottom of the T-Shirt. Keep your left hand and the pinch in place and lift your right hand, while still pinching the shoulder, over your left hand and move it straight down to the bottom of the T-Shirts.

Your arms should be crossed with your right arm over your left.

Using the hand which is currently pinching the shoulder, pinch the fabric at the bottom of the T-Shirt. Again, make sure that you are pinching both the front and the back of the T-Shirt at the same time.

Keep a firm grip on both of your pinches and uncross your hands while lifting the shirt off the surface at the same time. You must move your left hand through the two folds of the  shirt hanging from your right hand during the uncrossing motion.

Be warned, though, if you simply rotate the shirt to uncross your arms, you will end up with a mess that which will result in you having to start again from step 1.

If you managed to get the motion correctly in step 7, you should now have a folded shirt rectangle hanging down from your hands with a loose sleeve dangling at the bottom. Now, all you need to do is simply lower the shirt back down onto the flat surface ensuring that the loose sleeve comes into contact with the table first.

Once the loose sleeve is resting on the table, lay the rest of the shirt over the loose sleeve so it’s not visible from the front.

The best way to perfect anything is by practice. The time you manage to do this, it’ll probably take you longer than the promise 2 seconds but don’t worry, once you perfect the uncrossing motion and you’re able to draw an imaginary line without drawing it out with your hands, it’ll get easier and quicker.

STEP 10:

Now it’s time to start folding more T-Shirts. A good idea could be to fold your ironing the same way that you usually do and time yourself to see how long it actually takes.

Next time, use this new method and time yourself to seer how long it takes using this 2-second technique and let me know how much time you save in the comments below.
